"V" and "Y" shape
The name refers to the distinctive plant arrangement designed to optimize light interception and enhance fruit quality, color, and uniformity. In the “V” system, plants lean alternately right and left; in the “Y” system, each plant develops two branches angled in opposite directions along the row.
The plantation is established using prestressed reinforced concrete posts with a section of 9×9.5 or 10×12 cm at the ends and 7×8 or 8×8.5 cm for intermediate posts, with an height not exceeding 2.8 m above the ground for uncovered structures. To achieve the desired training shape, each post is fitted with a lower spacer of 40–70 cm and an upper spacer of 150–200 cm. Spacers on the end posts feature dedicated wire tensioners.
Given the high yield expected from the orchard, low-stretch wires are recommended to minimize maintenance over time.
