Vertical hail protection systems are mainly used in vineyards dedicated to wine grape production, where high levels of mechanization and the use of over-row harvesting machines make traditional structures impractical. The covers are made of leno-weave nets in 0.32 mm HDPE filament, available in different heights, generally between 80 and 120 cm, and in black, grey, and crystal colors.

At the end rows, the net can be tensioned by winding it onto special galvanized tubes or through a system of clips and elastic cords fixed to the end post or anchoring point. This second solution simplifies installation and allows the net to be fully lifted starting from the end post, facilitating mechanical harvesting operations.
