GDC

The GDC (Geneva Double Curtain) is a type of cultivation system designed to achieve high yields while keeping production costs low. The setup consists of two parallel curtains, each supported by a load-bearing wire. It can also be considered as a double free cordon.

Given the considerable height of the canopy above the ground, the structure uses prestressed concrete posts equipped with galvanized steel arms at the top to support the curtains. The hinged arms allow vertical shaking for mechanized harvesting.

For optimal performance, intermediate posts should have a cross-section of 8×8.5 cm with 12-wire reinforcement, while end posts should measure 9×9.5 cm with 18-wire reinforcement. Vegetation support is best provided using stainless steel (AISI304) or high-strength zinc-aluminum Comavit "PLUS" wires.
